Friends of Rachel are a group, where the students in the group help out around their school or community. In High Level Public School we do lots of activities where we get the whole school to join in. We have weekly goals at our school that we have to try and accomplish one of them is ‘Complement a new person each day you don’t usually talk to.’ and it’s very effective it boosts people’s self-esteem when you get complements. Friends of Rachel was made because Rachel Joy Scoot was a victim of the Columbine High School Shootings and when the police were going through the stuff on her there was a diary and in it she wrote about how she wanted to change her school and make it better. On the back of her diary was a saying “I will not be labeled as AVERAGE.” Rachel was inspiring and she didn’t deserve to die.

Rachel’s challenge was a quote she made that stuck with what the Friends of Rachel.

This hand was on her wall behind her dresser and the saying actually happened, Rachel touched many lives.
